About Us
Climate Justice UBC, formerly called UBCC350, is a group of students who organize to tackle climate change and its root causes.
Through our campaigns, we advocate for government action on climate policy, political engagement, institutional climate leadership, environmental justice, and Indigenous sovereignty. We are committed to climate action on and off campus, and aspire to challenge the patriarchal, capitalist, and colonial system that perpetuates climate inaction and ensures that some communities disproportionately feel both the negative impacts of resource extraction industries and climate change.
We see the climate movement as inseparable from movements for racial, social, and economic justice.
We aim to hold UBC accountable to its students and ensure that the University lives up to its vision of “exemplifying all aspects of economic, environmental, and social sustainability.” After a 6-year campaign, CJUBC succeeded in pushing UBC to divest from fossil fuels, in recognition that their investments support an industry responsible for climate change.
CJUBC is grateful to be in community with so many incredible student groups, local organizations, and coalitions, including the Campus Climate Network, BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, Change Course, and more!
